A number of teachers believe it is their duty to make sure all students get a true picture of United States History. This includes teaching about all Americans that have constructed, protected, and fought to improve its moral compass. Each month, millions of school teachers highlight an American hero, a cause, and an ethnicity that shaped the American landscape.

In February, that focus is African-American History. Teachers and schools design special events and lessons to honor the contributions and accomplishments by our fellow African-Americans. These activities, conversations, and interactions lead to a better understanding and appreciation of American History.

Every student has the right to know, explore, and learn about all Americans that built this country’s history, and who are shaping its future. This is why millions of teachers and schools celebrate Black History month across this great nation.
